11/14/2022 0 Comments Wake me up when september ends![]() If you’re sitting on the streetcar right now, if you’re bored in a company meeting and you’re reading TRB, or you’re, um….otherwise indisposed, the time is nigh!įor the record, atop my list is Green Day. The entire reason I did a top fifteen instead of top ten was because I felt so bad for bands #11 and #12. Where it really gets tough is which bands get cut from the list. Then try to put together the “most obvious” in a cluster, and you’ll come up with three, four, five, or more. Start with a master list – just throw any band on there that you like. That video spawned several emails from readers about their fondness for The Cranberries, and the following week in Pick5, I outlined my top-fifteen bands, in order, after much, much deliberation. In the Pick5, I explained how The Cranberries are one of my favourite ten bands of all time. Of course, this took me on a wicked nothing-to-do-with-real-estate tangent about the band The Cranberries, and their hit song, “Linger.” Or ten.Ī few weeks ago, I did a Pick5 with the theme “Let It Linger,” where I looked at properties that had been sitting on the market, er, lingering, and I explained whether the time was right to go in and make an offer or whether you, as a buyer, should let it linger. Pick5 is a completely unscripted half-hour segment where I choose five properties in the city of Toronto, perhaps based on geography, property type, or price, and I review the properties while not pulling any punches.Īs you can imagine, my undiagnosed A.D.D., obsession with the past, and fondness for childhood often takes me on a tangent. If you think I’m insane from simply reading the blog posts, I assure you, to quote BTO, “You ain’t seen nothin’ yet…” See more concerned Green Day fan reactions below. Are you just a Toronto Realty Blog reader, or do you watch Pick5 as well? But it’s weird: when things happen like that when you’re that young, it’s almost like life starts at year zero, or something like that.” When asked if he wrote down the phrase or if the words just stayed with him, Billie Joe said “I think it’s something that just stayed with me the month of September being that anniversary that always is just, I don’t know, kind of a bummer. In 2019, he revealed that he muttered the words "wake me up when September ends" to his mom after his dad died. Maybe just don't make that crap joke, eh?" wrote another.īillie Joe has opened up about the tragic inspiration for the song on many occasions. "Your friendly reminder Green Day's "Wake Me Up When September Ends" is about Billie Joe Armstrong's father dying of cancer when he was just 10 years old - and the many years of existential dread that September brought him as a result. Here is your reminder to please not joke about the Green Day song 'Wake Me Up When September Ends.' The song is about the Billie Joe Armstrong’s father who died of cancer when he was 10. Though the American Idiot hit sees a spike in plays at this time every year, Green Day fans are here to remind you why making a joke out of the song is actually not funny.
